Impressionistic paintings

Not as easy as I first thought!

I had always presumed that I would only paint in an impressionistic or modern style. Yet my very early attempts left me feeling dissatisfied and realising I had a lot to learn. I even felt as if I had to prove to myself that I could paint what I saw and felt (and others could understand this without any difficultly or challenge what this was) – a slightly strange self-imposed restriction in hindsight, even though I say so myself.

After being drawn to capture the beauty of the Isles of Scilly as it was before me the need to explore more of an emotional response to the places (and weather!) I love drew me back to this more expressive style.

I love forward to seeing where it takes my work.
